The EVP Video Page
As we have come to learn, making a video is a very time intensive process. The way it usually goes with us is, we will get in this mood or phase where all we want to do is create videos for our new songs. However, when the new songs run out, it's time to go back to the keyboard or pad and pencil to come up with some new material. Luckily for us at this point, we have stock piled quite a lot of footage from our previous video outings that we can easily utilize which will greatly shorten up the video creation process. But then, those wont last all that long, and out again we will have to go... on some road trip to nowhere...or somewhere to to add once again to the stock pile. It's great fun doing these and they will be added here as they are created. A new one is in the works as we speak for a new song we've penned. Also there will be forth coming videos for some of the songs on our History album as none of these posted here are. Looking forward to sharing all of them with you .William and Linda
HEY! Don't forget to play these in HD! (When available). RITA This song was written in 2001 after the towers fell on 9/11. We actually recorded this the day before Osama Bin Laden was killed, so we had no idea of the relevance in the timing. We added the video the previous day after we learned of that event. |
Wild Tidings
This song was written in Savannah a few years back and was basically inspired by the haunting atmosphere of that city called the South's First Lady". Subtitled "A Murder Mystery with a Beat", this video was shot in New York, however there is an existing original video in the archives of a different version of the song that was shot in Savannah. Maybe we will drag it back out for the archives page. (from the Sacred Garden Album)
If if Paris
A song of either hope or denial? Hmmmm..... Anyway, just us fooling around in the studio while recording. Sometimes tension can show in a finished product, this one had none. :) A good song (according to responses) transporting us to a good day. (an orphan...no album home yet)
Rivers of Ice
This is a song we wrote on a frigid night here in NY after watching the movie Whiteout with Kate Beckinsale and Tom Skerritt. Just a frozen deal all the way around. We had taken some photography a month or so before that we had titled "Winter Dogs" and decided to include some of it in the video. (another orphan...no album home yet)
Danvers 1692
This was written in Savannah as well a number of years ago. This is also the original studio recording as it was never re-done. But we included it here because we feel strongly about its content. It is a song that speaks of intolerance, paranoia and hysteria in the face of what one sees as different and against "the grain". Though it is told mainly through the story of the 1692 witch trials and fear of Wiccan practice, it applies to all intolerance and fear wherever it exists in our society. NOTE: We do realize witches were not burned in Danvers (Salem) in 1692; they were hung. The fire reference is eluding to the fires of fear and hatred for their differences. In the Wind
This was, I believe, the first video for EVP. Shot mostly in various abandoned places as the theme of the song seems to be about someone abandoned and yet still haunted by someone who is no longer there for reasons unknown. Our music style has changed somewhat since this recording, but we still think it's fun to re-visit. (from the Sacred Garden Album)
Doorways
Doorways was done directly after In the Wind. Funny incident with this one: We had to find a good clear white wall to film in front of in order to put the effects in later. Driving around with the equipment, we found the side of a store in an abandoned shopping center. Just as we were setting up the recording equipment a cop pulls up out of curiosity. I suppose after eying the recording equipment, my remaining Georgia license plate and the abandoned location, he ended up pulling Linda to the side and asking her if she was being held against her will. Although it would provide an ideal location for a ransom video, such was not the case and the cop waked away as we asked him if he would care to join us in the video! Teee Heee... (from the Sacred Garden album)
Cages
Cages is a song about a spirit trapped in this world with many others who can not move on. Shortly after we wrote this song, we came across a story about an abandoned castle in the nearby Catskills called Dundas Castle. We went to visit the castle one hot summer day. It was abandoned with not a soul (no pun intended) around. So, we promptly turned back around, gathered up the video equipment and returned to shoot footage which would become the video for this song. Although, personally, I am slightly disappointed that we didn't use more footage of the awesome castle and surrounding grounds, we have recently gone through our video archives and have decided to utilize much of what was not used from that shoot in a video for a new song. So it looks like we will all be visiting the spirits of Dundas Castle once again... (from the Sacred Garden album)
